Message from the president

In 2007, I have established OTENTO (Thailand) Co., Ltd. , willing to create the new business model to spread Japanese agriculture around the world, Alike Japanese industry have contributed all over the world, as the group company with “Wago”, leading agricultural corporation in Japan.

We have faced unexpected consecutive difficulties while launching distribution business for fresh agricultural products In Kingdom of Thailand. However, in the same time, we had encounters amazing Thai associates with variety of backgrounds who has same will which is to deliver safe, secure and delicious agricultural products, such as Tha Yang Agricultural Cooperative Ltd. that valued experiences led us OTENTO mission, “to develop agriculture for connecting it to the future by diversity”, business philosophy we should have.

OTENTO have started business with exporting Hom Thong bananas to Japan.
In recent years, its efforts are received great recognition from Thai customers, and now horizontal business network of local distribution has been began. In addition to that, developing and marketing mini tomato which is matched for introducing Japanese progressed knowledge and delivering the high quality vegetables as a direct sale has started. Furthermore, our business field is expanding to the ASEAN countries where economy grows. On reflection, we are building business strategies in Japan, wishing to contribute Japanese future agriculture by applying all our hard-won global knowledges.

I will keep working forward to contribute as an innovator of both Japanese and Thai agricultural development with OTENTO.

Summary of business

Banana Project

OTENTO has been collaborating closely with banana farmers such as Tha Yang Agricultural Cooperative Ltd., developing and marketing the Gros Michel Hom Thong banana.
The Gros Michel had been cultivated worldwide, it is now rare species as outbreak of Panama disease, one of the Fusarium wilt at South America in 1950’s. Currently Cavendish banana is mostly cultivating many areas of the world. In the meantime, In Kingdom of Thailand, the Gros Michel has been cultivated and Tha Yang district at Phetchaburi province is known as Hom Thong banana production area which is aromatic and high quality. “Hom Thong” means “golden fragrance” in Thai.
OTENTO is hoping to conserve the Gros Michel through our Hom Thong banana project. Banana for exporting is cultivated without any pesticides or chemical fertilizer and deliver to customers in Japan.
